Absolute winches are the result of a long and detailed research on the different hull designs, deck layouts and cockpit arrangements of racing and cruiser-racers designed according to the International Metre Class Rule, the Universal Rule and the International Square Metre Class Rule.

Our close and fruitful relationship with classic metre class boat owners, skippers and crews led to the refinement of the perfect winch shapes and sizes, resulting in a set of winches with wide drums and low aspect profiles, with single and two speed, which keep the unmatched beauty of the authentic vintage shape but are fully engineered for rough racing service.

The winch drum and base are produced through a traditional process of sand casting. After dedicated machining they are hand finished and polished to the highest degree of craftsmanship. All winch gears are machined from high strength stainless steel and nickel-aluminum-bronze.

The cap/top nut of every model is engraved with the yacht’s name and building year (or sail number).

By special order we can provide our winches with an “inner base” for partial deck insertion.
